Last summer I gave 11 boxes of books to the university library.
I was going to keep only those books that fit on the remaining six bookshelves.
I got rid of all my fiction -- except Austen, Spark, Forster, Wharton, Woolf, Cather, O'Connor, Byatt, Patchett, Chabon, Waters, Thurber, Irish authors not published in the U.S. -- and some other stuff.
I got rid of all the non-fiction that wasn't on 20th-c. musical theatre -- except theatre history or theatre theory or theatre (auto)biography or theatre design -- and some other stuff.
I got rid of all the drama that wasn't -- oops! only a few duplicate anthologies gone.
I got rid of anything that didn't fit on those shelves -- except for those eight boxes in the closet. And the five boxes I took to California.

Well, I did finally clean out my sock drawer.
